Chennai Super Kings Auction Activity for IPL 2024

As has usually been the case, the Chennai Super Kings had a very solid auction this time around as well. While they would be happy with their buy of Daryl Mitchell for whom the Super Kings spent INR 14 crore, their best buy might have been Rachin Ravindra for a mere INR 1.8 crore.

Both these New Zealanders will join Devon Conway in the Chennai squad.

Also joining the Chennai Super Kings team is a stunning purchase in the form of Sameer Rizvi who has been playing first-class cricket for Uttar Pradesh since 2019-20. A right-handed batter who can hit the ball a long way, Rizvi could be someone to watch out for.

Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur was picked for INR 4 crore while Mustafizur Rahman makes way into the squad for a mere INR 2 crore. Another uncapped Indian making the team was Avanish Rao Aravelly for his base price. IPL 2024 CSK team players list is placed above.

What Happened in IPL 2023?

Chennai Super Kings started off the tournament with a defeat and had a string of three matches in the middle of the tournament in which they didn’t win anything but by then they had already climbed up to 11 points from 10 matches.

They added three more wins from the final four games to make it to the playoffs as the second-ranked team, allowing them to make the final directly. And that’s exactly what they did by overcoming Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier.

CSK faced Gujarat in the final again and in a rain-affected game, they chased down their opponent’s 214/4 in their 20 overs.
