The Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium or the PCA Stadium as it’s also called, is a host to the Punjab Kings team in the IPL and the Punjab side in domestic cricket. It has also hosted international matches including World Cup matches in the past and was once known to be one of the quicker pitches in the country.
Over time, the Mohali stadium pitch has slowed down as the ground has become more and more batting-friendly.
Typically, cricket stadiums have four to six floodlight towers but the PCA Stadium is different in this regard having 16, shorter floodlights surrounding the stadium. The major reason for that is that it cannot have taller flights which might come in the way of the aeroplanes flying out of the Chandigarh airport which is close to the stadium.

Notable Events at the PCA Stadium
The first-ever international match played at Mohali was between India and South Africa in the 1993 Hero Cup before India clashed with West Indies in a Test in 1994. It was such a lively pitch for that Test that Manoj Prabhakar suffered a broken nose while batting and India fell apart against the West Indian seam bowling attack.
This stadium hosted the 1996 World Cup semifinal between Australia and West Indies and the 2011 World Cup semifinal between India and Pakistan. Strangely, the PCA Stadium wasn’t allocated any matches during the 2023 World Cup.
In one of India’s best T20 chases Virat Kohli’s 52-ball 81 helped them get past the line against Australia in the 2016 T20 World Cup.

The PCA Stadium or the IS Bindra Stadium is a cricket stadium in Mohali which is located close to Chandigarh. Depending on where you are in Chandigarh it could take anywhere between 15 to 40 minutes to get to this stadium.
The best way to get to the PCA Stadium is by road. In fact, at the time of writing, there is no other way to get to the stadium if you are within the Chandigarh-Panchkula-Mohali region because the metro services in these cities will begin only in 2027.
Wherever you are in the Chandigarh-Panchkula-Mohali region, you can hire a cab to get to the stadium and back. Parking during these matches is an obvious issue, so account for that if you are going to be driving on your own.
If you are coming in from outside the region, you can either fly down to the Chandigarh airport or take a train and get off at the Chandigarh railway station. From the airport, it’s about 13 km away and a cab will take you about 20 minutes to get there. If you are taking a train to reach Chandigarh then it’s not too different with about 20 to 25 minutes needed to get to the Mohali Stadium.
