Australia Crowned Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Champions
The 8th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, set to take place in South Africa from February 10 to 26, 2023, will feature Australia as the defending champions. The tournament will have 10 teams playing in 2 groups. Hosts South Africa and the top 7 ranked teams from the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia qualified, with the final 2 spots filled by Ireland and Bangladesh from the qualifying tournament.
The world cup promises excitement with new and experienced players. Favourites include Australia, England with Alice Capsey, India with Shafali Verma and Renuka Singh Thakur, and New Zealand with Sophie Devine and Bernadine Bezuidenhout, aiming for improvement after a 6th place finish in the last World Cup. Despite losses, Pakistan has hope with the return of coach Mark Coles and star player Nida Dar. The teams have been divided into two groups. The top two teams with the most points will advance to the semi-finals.
