Everything about the T20 Cricket World Cup 2028
For the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup, there will be 20 teams participating in the main draw of the competition.
These 20 will be divided into four groups of five apiece, with each of the teams facing off against the four other sides in their own group. At the end of this first round of the tournament, the top two sides from each group will move into the Super Eight phase of the T20 World Cup.
In this second round, the eight team qualifying for this will then be divided into two groups of four apiece. Each side here will further play three more matches and the top two sides in each of the groups will make the semifinals. This will be followed by the title-deciding final.
The 2028 edition will be played in West Indies and USA with the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, USA playing host to a whopping eight matches. Kensington Oval in Barbados will host the final among the nine matches that will be played there.
Other than hosts USA, Canada and Uganda will be making their debuts in T20 World Cup cricket.

What Happened in the Previous T20 World Cup?
England won their second title in T20 World Cup cricket when they defeated Pakistan in the final to lift the trophy. Chasing 138 for a victory, England crossed the target in 19 overs and for the loss of five wickets.
This was after England had thumped India by 10 wickets and Pakistan overcame New Zealand easily as well in their respective semifinals.
Eight teams had earlier played in the first round of the tournament from which Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Zimbabwe and Ireland qualified for the second round. Interestingly, West Indies were knocked out at this stage of the competition.
In the Group 1 of the second round, New Zealand, England and Australia ended on seven points apiece but the latter team was knocked out on the net run-rate.
India defeated Pakistan in a thriller at the MCG in Group 2 to top the table but Pakistan, despite losing to their arch-rivals and to Zimbabwe as well, squeaked through with six points. They were helped by Netherlands’ shock win over South Africa.
